Nurture Breastfeeding is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and client data is handled in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) May 2018
Additionally, as a practicing midwife registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), I am required to maintain professional standards in all areas of my practice which includes record keeping and the safe storage of documents. This is clearly covered in the NMC Code of Professional Standards and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives.

What information is being collected?
In discussion with families about their feeding issues I am privileged to hear personal and medical details about you, your baby and your birthing and feeding experience.
I receive personal information about you/your baby including date of birth, address, telephone number/s, email address and details of your other health care providers.
When providing services I request that clients complete a comprehensive health questionnaire and consent form before the first meeting. This is updated as needed with future events.
Can parents request a copy of the details stored?
You can request to see any details that I hold about you or your baby and you will have password protected access to the electronic record of the consultation.
What if parents notice any inaccuracies in the documentation?
If you notice any inaccuracies in my documentation please contact me at the earliest opportunity via mo@nurturebreastfeeding.co.uk so that I can rectify the details and send you an updated record.
Who is collecting your data?
As I work on my own, it will only be me taking details of your history, reading your emails and answering my mobile should you call or text.
How is information collected?
Information is collected electronically via a contact page from my website, from a health questionnaire and verbally during the consultation.
Additionally I create:
- an electronic set of notes within a secure password protected portal
- an annual excel spreadsheet of clients on a password protected computer
- if I send you electronic information your email address will be saved on my email account
- following telephone calls or texts your telephone number/s will be saved on my mobile
Why is information being collected?To meet my professional requirements as a practicing midwife registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Standards and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives.
For ongoing continuity of care:
- In support of our ongoing relationship
- To aid recall for yourself as parent and myself as your supporter
How will information be used?The information will be used in the ongoing care of yourself and your baby/s
Your information will not be shared with anyone without your knowledge or sold on to any other business. The exception to this will be if I have any concerns about the safety of your baby or children. Under these circumstances I would be professionally and legally obligated to share relevant information with appropriate agencies without your consent.
How will it be stored?Electronic notes are kept through a web based system accessible only by myself and the web designer
My computer is password protected.
My mobile is protected by password and fingerprint recognition
Please be aware that clinical notes relating to care of babies must be kept for 25 years as required by the NHS Code of Practice (Scotland) 2012
