Testimonials

Mo was a wonderful help on my breastfeeding journey!

James was 4.5 weeks old when I had a consultation with Mo.

I was experiencing a multitude of problems with breastfeeding prior to our consultation, including:

– Struggles with positioning and attachment

– Pain & damaged nipples

– Very long feeding times

– Low milk supply, resulting in me having to top up with significant amounts of formula

– A very unsettled baby with digestive issues

Mo provided fantastic support with positioning and attachment. Following the consultation, James was able to feed more effectively from the breast, and feed times became shorter and more satisfying for him. I experienced no more pain and no more nipple damage.

Mo was able to explain that we had actually been overfeeding James with formula milk, and we made a plan to reduce the volume of formula top-ups and to space them out more. This had an almost immediate and very positive impact on his digestive issues, resulting in a more settled and content baby who started to sleep better. I must admit that James is still a big boy with a big appetite but he is clearly so much healthier & happier now. Mo was able to advise on ways of comforting and settling James between feeds. She even showed me how to use the sling from my baby box which has proven to be a god-send!

Mo devised a plan to help me increase my milk supply, with regular breastfeeds and pumping. After a few weeks, my milk supply improved significantly. I now no longer need to pump and just keep my supply going with regular feeding. We still use a bit of formula here and there as it suits my family and our busy lifestyle but James is now predominantly breastfed.

Breastfeeding has gone from being exhausting & painful, to now being a bonding experience that I genuinely enjoy. James is so comforted by the closeness and is a much more settled baby now!

Thank you Mo!

“Mo has provided me with fantastic advice and the reassurance I needed to have the confidence to continue breastfeeding my baby in an enjoyable way!”    Jo (Jan 2024)

“Mo is such a lovely person and was a great help to me and Hudson! We had some minor breastfeeding difficulties and Mo showed me ways to improve existing techniques as well as some new techniques!

She also provided a wealth of information about expressing milk, which was so helpful. I now have more confidence in my breastfeeding journey and can highly recommend Mo to anyone who is looking for some breastfeeding guidance!”

“I contacted Mo with difficulties breastfeeding my first baby, Finn. I was dealing with an oversupply, an overactive letdown, was extremely engorged and had developed very painful mastitis, so was in a poor state when Mo visited. Seeing Finn choking on the fast flow and having difficulty feeding was also really taking its toll on me.

I felt other professionals were lacking in knowledge or hesitant to provide advice on oversupply whereas Mo gave clear guidance and advice. As well as providing invaluable advice and assisting with positioning and attachment, Mo was extremely warm and kind and made me feel completely at ease during a very vulnerable time.

I consulted Mo again when my son became extremely fussy when feeding at around 9 weeks old. I had been sure I had a supply issue following mastitis due to Finn’s behaviour. Mo observed Finn feed and, had it not been for Mo’s advice and reassurance that my supply was good and the issues were more likely in relation to Finn’s digestive issues, I would have expressed to increase my supply. I truly believe I would have ended up with an oversupply again and dealing with recurrent mastitis. Mo provided helpful advice in relation to potential allergens and the use of probiotics. She also provided follow up advice via email for 2 weeks following both consultations to ensure I was fully supported.

Finn and I are now nearly 4 months into our breastfeeding journey which is now an enjoyable bonding experience for us both. I am quite sure I wouldn’t have been able to continue breastfeeding if it hadn’t been for Mo’s input and advice – she really is an expert in her field.” Christina (October 2023)

“Bo and I have been on our breastfeeding journey for over 8 months now and it’s all thanks to Mo. I can’t thank her enough.  Mo was extremely helpful and kind when we needed her most.

The first few days of breastfeeding were lovely for us but as soon as my milk came in Bo started to struggle with latching. The midwife told us that Bo had a tongue tie the day that he was born but we didn’t really know what that meant or how it could affect breastfeeding. Three weeks later, my nipples were sore, cracked and bleeding so I tried pumping but Bo was not a fan of the bottle and then resorted to nipple shields but it was still difficult so I booked an appointment with Mo. I wish I would’ve done so earlier, but I’m just glad that I did so.

Mo was so patient, helpful and kind at the consultation. She is so caring and knowledgeable.  Exactly what I needed at that time. She showed us various breastfeeding positions and booked an appointment with the tongue tie clinic for us. Now 8 months later I can’t thank Mo enough. Our breastfeeding experience is everything I had hoped for, and I’m so glad I reached out to Mo.” Claudia (September 2023)

“My consultation with Mo has left me excited for my breastfeeding journey. She put me at ease straight away and provided information and advice in a really gentle and clear way.

It was an informative and empowering experience and I would definitely recommend Mo to any new Mum.” Beth (September 2023)

“Mo has been super helpful with my breastfeeding journey and her visit was only 1 day ago. She took her time to find out what exactly the pain points were to then give me options to try and make it better.

I would wholeheartedly recommend her!” Jasmin (September 2023)

“I contacted Mo when my little one was a month old, feeling totally helpless since I haven’t yet achieved exclusive breastfeeding. Mo hasn’t only helped me with an action plan, but calmed me down and helped me find my lost confidence. After her visit, I knew what a good latch means and how I could feed the baby with the bottle (paced feeding) to avoid milk flow preference. After a few weeks I managed to achieve exclusive breastfeeding and Mo is the one to thank.

Fully recommend Mo to any moms that feel lost and want to experience the breastfeeding journey. Totally worth the investment.” Christina (February 2023)

“Breastfeeding had gone so well for me for the first two weeks , and then I lost all my confidence when my little one started showing signs of digestive issues , and her latch became more shallow. I was really upset and thought it had all gone wrong , but Mo spent over 2 hours with me and identified an oversupply issue. She reassured me and built my confidence right back up. She provided a clear action plan for how to tackle the oversupply issue and spent a lot of time making sure I was happy with certain feeding positions that would help in my case. Very quickly, a full report with lots of great resources was provided and I was given 2 weeks of email support after the consultation which has been invaluable.

I highly recommend Mo. She is exceptionally knowledgeable, competent, empathetic and is just a lovely person too! Everything a new mum needs when seeking breastfeeding support. Thank you!” Amanda (December 2022)

“I always envisioned breastfeeding my baby. I was really excited about the prospect and I even attended a course before my baby was born – to get that all important latch right!

I did not envision having sore cracked nipples, blebs and pain in my body.  The physical discomfort had a massive impact on my mental state. I knew I needed help.

I contacted Mo and from the outright I knew it was the right decision. Mo is the breastfeeding specialist in my opinion. She is very giving with her time, she will come to your house and she will make you feel confident and supported in your breastfeeding journey. She’s warm, professional and extremely passionate about breastfeeding.  She will also support you by email after your 1-1 session. I found her video links and articles extremely beneficial and made me even more determined to continue breastfeeding.

I can’t thank Mo enough for her help. My daughter is now 8 months old and we both absolutely love breastfeeding. I will cherish this experience and bond with my baby for life.” Roxanne (November 2022)

“I contacted Mo a few weeks after returning home from the hospital as my baby girl was born fairly small in size & was cluster feeding which I was finding challenging.

I looked to Mo for support & guidance as to whether my feeding technique was suitable & to see if improvements could be made to our latch.

Mo was incredibly knowledgeable, reassuring & professional at all times. She suggested small tweaks which made a huge difference in feeling closer with my daughter during our feeds. Working with her gave me a real confidence boost. It was really assuring to know I was doing the right thing which helped me to relax & enjoy my feed times with my daughter. Feeding has been one of the most enjoyable & bonding experiences with my baby.

After meeting with us Mo emailed very detailed notes which I could refer back to which was so helpful at a time when most things felt like a complete blur!

I would highly recommend Mo to anyone.” Donna (September 2022)

“My breastfeeding journey started with a few issues. Whilst my son was happily piling on the weight, I was suffering badly with cracked and bleeding nipples. I got in touch with Mo on a recommendation by a friend and was so glad I did. I saw Mo on 2 occasions. On both occasions I learned so much from her including different positions to try, fascinating information about breast milk and crucially why my son was adopting a shallow latch (to cope with a strong flow).

It has not been easy but over time I have gradually lessened my reliance on shields (which were a faff and difficult to use on the go). Mo was a source of supportive guidance face to face and over email to build my confidence to keep exclusively breastfeeding and to keep going. So many others advised me to turn to formula which was not what I wanted to do. At 4 months I am still feeding and find that the most cherished moments with my son are around the experience of breastfeeding. I only wish I had seen Mo earlier and if there is a sibling to follow I will be booking her to visit me the day after I’m discharged from hospital!” Saira (August 2022)

“After struggling with breastfeeding my first child I knew I wanted to see a lactation consultant for some advice on how to get breastfeeding off to a good start – in steps Mo! With some prenatal and postnatal consultations Mo had me in the right mindset and with a better understanding of the mechanics of breastfeeding, to hand expressing and best of all breast compressions. I couldn’t recommend Mo more highly.” Gabby (July 2022)

“We saw Mo when Ruaridh was 4 weeks old and I can’t thank her enough for the help she gave us. We had a bit of a tricky start to breastfeeding after a Caesarean section. Although we didn’t have any major issues with supply or weight gain Mo was able to suggest small tweaks to optimise Ruaridh’s feeding and make sure he was getting as much milk as possible.

We’re still going 3 months later and Ruaridh has continued to gain good amounts of weight. I was really impressed with the documentation containing lots of helpful information that Mo sent after our session which I still refer back to from time to time.

If you are struggling with any aspect of breastfeeding I would really recommend seeking help from an IBCLC like Mo as soon as possible because accessing that support early on can just make things so much easier and more enjoyable.” Louise (February 2022)

.

“Your help was pivotal in helping us continue with breastfeeding our tiny baby in the early days. Thank you for your patient kindness and extreme professionalism. We will be forever grateful.
Thank you again.” Ana (February 2022)

“Working with Mo both before and after the arrival of my son, Angus, was the most wonderful experience – and I haven’t stopped telling people how her help made our breast feeding journey possible!

I met with Mo antenatally and she was able to share so much invaluable information, resources, encouragement and practical help that when I was in hospital having my son I felt empowered to ask questions, start hand expressing and was able to look for and start to understand feeding cues. And although for us establishing breast feeding wasn’t immediate, the knowledge from Mo’s antenatal visit meant I was able to stay calm while things settled. Once we were home Mo visited again and this was what helped me to establish breastfeeding.

Mo’s expert advice and the follow up plan made me confident I could do it! And we’re still going now. Mo has such a kind and caring approach and I felt empowered to share both my anxieties and hopes regarding feeding. I Could not recommend using the services of a lactation consultant, especially Mo, more!” Jennifer (February 2022)

“We got off to a rocky start on the birth of our son, he is our first baby and the labour ended up being quite a long and traumatic one which ended in an emergency c section. I really felt that this impacted the early weeks of our breastfeeding journey, where our son struggled to latch and I had to do a lot of expressing and use formula to supplement. I had limited support in the hospital and really lost confidence in my ability to breastfeed and was starting to think we weren’t going to be able to do it.

I decided to look into a lactation consultant and had a recommendation for Mo, and thank goodness I did, as she really turned breastfeeding around for us. By having some protected time with Mo, who took the time to understand our needs and the impact of our experience, I was able to learn some practical tips to get us on track. I particularly valued the hands-on experience we received, which is what I had needed from the beginning and it only took one long session to see quite a drastic change.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Mo if you are looking for support and guidance with breastfeeding, there is a real lack of support for new Mums and that hands on help is invaluable in the early weeks. My son has since been thriving, and we have managed to continue to exclusively breastfeed which is getting easier by the week.” Rachael (January 2022)

“Mo is absolutely wonderful and well worth the investment.

I have consulted Mo for advice on feeding both of my children and she is the reason I am managing to exclusively breastfeed my second baby. She is so knowledgeable, practical, caring and thorough.

There is so much to learn about and get to grips with for breast feeding and at a time when your energy levels and brain space are low, but Mo makes it manageable and helps you focus on the priorities for you, providing tailored advice and support. She is also very approachable and lovely and a pleasure to have in your home. I, without hesitation, would recommend Mo to everyone.” Hilary (July 2021)

“Mo transformed our breastfeeding experience. We got in touch with her when the weeks of constant expressing, feeding and sterilising for our twins, Bella and Imogen, were beginning to be too much. Mo was so helpful, reassuring and friendly, and really took the time to address all of our concerns. Within days, we no longer needed to use formula (previously we had been using it for one or two feeds a day) and within weeks we were exclusively breastfeeding (only pumping once a day so that my husband could feed the girls). Mo was willing to answer any further questions we had via email and has sent lots of helpful documents, videos and weblinks. Huge thanks to Mo from our family! We would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone struggling with breastfeeding.” Katy (July 2021)

“Even though I had successfully breastfed my son years earlier, when I found out I was expecting twins I knew there was a chance I might need expert support. I knew that Mo came recommended from other mums and the breastfeeding support community… and the fact that she had twins herself gave me confidence she would be the right person to help. My sons were premature and had lost a lot of birth weight which they were slow to put back on. When I contacted Mo my boys could only breastfeed with nipple shields and I hated using them and feeding in this way. I felt like I wasn’t ‘properly’ breastfeeding and I was really struggling with latching two babies whilst using two fiddly nipple shields. The health visitor was supportive but a bit concerned about the boy’s slow weight gain so I wasn’t feeling very positive about my ability to feed them. Mo first of all did a video consultation and she was so supportive. She took all the details of their birth weights and subsequent weigh-ins and she really re-assured me that their weight gain in the past week had been great. We talked about how to wean off the nipple shields and what strategies to use which was helpful, though I really wanted her to observe a feed in person which she wasn’t able to do at that time because of Covid, which I know she was disappointed about.

About a week later Mo got in touch to say she could now visit in person… and even though she’d already done a full video consultation, she took the time to come to my house and watch the boys feed and offer more support. That was the turning point for me, because she thought they were latched properly and feeding effectively without the nipple shields  (when I hadn’t thought they were ready.) That gave me the confidence to start feeding them without the shields and using the laid-back positions we’d talked about to help with a deep latch. A few weeks later and the nipple shields were a distant memory, the boys were piling on the weight and I’d started to enjoy feeding them for the first time. Now at seven months the boys are doing great and feeding is still going strong with no plans for stopping.” Rachel (April 2021)

“My breastfeeding journey got off to a rocky start due to issues with latching which began whilst we were still in the hospital. We struggled along with pumping and formula top ups and finally got to a place where I could exclusively breastfeed and we were both so happy. But then I noticed my little one was frequently uncomfortable, she had constant digestive issues and was wanting to eat upwards of 14 times a day even at three months old. In addition, my supply hadn’t regulated and I was painfully engorged if we went more than two hours without a feed. The GP diagnosed my little one with a possible cows milk protein allergy and all the progress we’d made with breastfeeding just seem to be fade away…but then we found Mo!

Mo was absolutely incredible, she was so patient and reassured me that I could continue breastfeeding and helped me to confirm that it was likely the milk allergy that was at the root of our combined problems. We spoke at length about my family history of different illnesses and allergies, and suddenly all the dots connected and everything started to make sense! She helped me to come up with a plan to get breastfeeding back on track, and to help me feel more comfortable again. After our session she provided me with lots of fantastic links to research to help me make the most informed choices and she gave me a really thorough and personalised overview of everything we had discussed. Now at 6 months we’re still breastfeeding and feel confident in continuing to do so as we begin to explore the world of solid foods and its all thanks to Mo!”   Robyn (April 2021)

“I was expecting breastfeeding to be difficult but it was much harder than I prepared for. Being able to have a face-to-face assessment with Mo, in the comfort of my own home, especially when most other support options were limited due to lockdown measures, made all the difference to my breastfeeding journey. Mo helped me try different feeding positions to find something that worked, gave me confidence in my supply when many people were quick to suggest giving formula (including paediatric specialists) and supported me to keep feeding when a cow’s milk protein allergy was identified. She responded to my messages asking for more advice and she genuinely cared about us establishing breastfeeding (clearly this is not just a job!) Without this specialist lactation consultant advice, I do not think I could have made it to exclusively breastfeeding…and be still successfully feeding at 8 months.”   Anita (February 2021)

“It is without hesitation that I can say I would not still be breastfeeding if it wasn’t for Mo. When we met I had reached a point where I was in so much pain, so disappointed, so stressed and so overwhelmed that I was ready (and in a way, wanting) to stop my breastfeeding journey. I had thought it would all feel so natural and easy, and it was the opposite. Despite going on courses, having support from NCT, midwives, health visitors and family, I was still struggling with every single feed. Mo changed everything. Her support, care, thoughtfulness and knowledge helped me work through the emotional, physical and practical barriers I faced, and even after the session she continued to support me via email whenever I need. The transformation could be seen within a few days and has lasted. My daughter is now six months old and breastfeeding is not only still going strong but is something I enjoy and look forward to, which I never thought would happen. Thank you Mo, you changed my breastfeeding journey and my relationship with my body and my daughter, and I would not hesitate to recommend you (and already do).” Georgia (December 2020)

“When my daughter was born I struggled to establish breastfeeding and at the time I thought it was very likely that I would reluctantly have to give up breastfeeding. I am so pleased that I contacted Mo as I am now able to exclusively breastfeed my daughter and I am sure that without Mo’s advice I wouldn’t have achieved this. I think Mo’s knowledge is exemplary and that she is gifted in listening, tailoring advice and explaining techniques to improve breastfeeding. I cannot thank Mo enough, to me she is an absolute superstar.” Lynn (November 2020)

“I contacted Mo in a moment of desperation when my baby was 2 weeks old. I had been advised by midwives to top up feeds with expressed milk by syringe or cup as my baby had lost 10% of his birth weight. He refused to take these so I knew I needed help if I wanted to continue breastfeeding exclusively. I was finding the whole experience stressful, as was my husband and I’m sure the baby was as well. My back was aching as I was so tense during feeds.

Mo answered my call while she was on holiday and booked me in there and then. On the phone, she was kind and reassuring. She called me before coming to talk through the precautions she would take due to Covid, which were very thorough. She was with us for three hours and the time just flew by as she guided us through different feeding positions and explained what babies needed to feel secure and latch well while feeding. She was also helpful with other aspects of baby care, such as how to make night wakings less of an event for us and the baby so we could all settle back to sleep quickly and without any stress.

I would 100% recommend having a session with Mo, regardless of whether you’re having feeding problems. It’s like a bespoke course in baby care for your own baby with a friendly, supportive and reassuring expert! I would not hesitate to contact Mo again for help and advice with any problems. Thank you Mo!”  Yvonne (October 2020)

“If you are a new mom and looking to breastfeed, I really believe a lactation consultant is invaluable. Think of them as one of the best investments you can make at this stage of your parenting journey.  Mo has been absolutely brilliant: so lovely and nice, taking the time to build great rapport with us and explained everything with calm and confidence. All of her advice made a difference, and it was all based on her extensive experience, knowledge and training but most importantly, it was based on science and facts which she kindly took the time to explain to us in detail. She is extremely responsive and she took the time to check on me and see how we were doing. I really cannot recommend her enough!“ Andreea (September 2020)

“I contacted Mo because I was finding it difficult to feed due to nipple pain, also because my newborn was so sleepy due to jaundice that we were struggling to wake her to feed so I was concerned she was losing too much weight.  Mo advised me on how to improve Frankie’s latch when in cross cradle hold. Mo also helped me master the laid back feeding position, that I was previously unable to do. This helped enormously as Frankie is a very big baby so laid back hold is much easier on my arms!

I’m so glad I contacted Mo when I did. Her advice drastically improved my confidence to breast feed, and Frankie’s latch with it. The session with Mo was brilliant, she’s very thorough, knowledgeable and personable. I also appreciated that she was willing to provide similarly excellent advice on other aspects of looking after a newborn, not just purely breast feeding. I would highly recommend booking a session with Mo. It got my breast feeding journey with Frankie off to the best possible start.” Elle (July 2020)

“I had few preconceived ideas about pregnancy, birth or being a mother but I was beyond certain that I wanted to breastfeed.  We seemed to get off to a reasonable start. Our baby latched and sucked no problem, and if my milk was a bit late coming in it was probably down to a difficult birth and a high level of blood loss. Baby’s weight was fine and nobody seemed too concerned about the amount of formula milk we were going to have to phase out, or that all my attempts to express were abortive.  I contacted Mo on the recommendation of a friend when our daughter was five weeks old as she seemed to be taking an awful lot of formula and I wanted to check that everything was in order before I started trying to reduce it. Mo spent plenty of time with us and went over everything very thoroughly but was able to spot that, although both my daughter and I were doing everything we should have been doing, my supply was not above being a few drops. My baby was not swallowing at the breast because she had nothing to swallow.  Mo provided us with a plan and we made considerable attempts to encourage my supply. However, while this did have some limited impact, it didn’t get us to a point where I could give our daughter anything approaching a full feed. We had to top up with formula milk at every feed and with the extra time and stress involved feeding took over our lives. This eventually became unhealthy for all of us.

At eleven weeks I began to concede that I was never going to have anything approaching a full breastmilk supply and that, although I was devastated and formula milk was not even a close second choice, it exists precisely to nourish babies who cannot be fed by their mothers.  At fourteen weeks I gave up completely, and while this is still a source of sadness and regret for me our daughter is happy, extremely healthy and, so far, allergy free.  While Mo wasn’t able to get us past what seems likely to have been a fundamental failure of biology I am very glad that I got in touch. I am entirely certain that our daughter got as much breastmilk from me as she could possibly have had and that there was nothing more which could or should have been done. While I’m still sad that it didn’t work out I know for sure that there’s nothing to feel guilty about.  I have no complaints about the NHS midwives or Health Visitors but they do not have the time or resources to spot complex or unusual issues. I would advise anyone who is even slightly concerned to make an appointment as soon as possible.”  Louisa (February 2020)

“I was absolutely sure I was at the end of my milk supply, but with help from Mo I restored it.  I know the NHS tries to do its best, but my GP had missed signs of John being underweight and we had ended up in hospital, where I was told to dose 500ml of formula a day. It was horrible. Then we got Mo involved.  She made time especially to visit us just before her holiday when she found out how much we were struggling and immediately set us on a rescue plan and helped me (actually) figure out how to get pumping going and to be effective.  I cannot put into words how relieved I was to have her expert guidance and how it changed our situation.  From the start Mo was confident we could repair the situation.  Her guidance was detailed and clear, and in two months we had dropped to almost no formula at all. I’m still breastfeeding at month 9 alongside solids and John doesn’t drink formula.  Honestly, even if I hadn’t had any problems at all I really think that a visit from Mo would be so worthwhile, just to avoid all the basic mistakes that the health visitors don’t know about or haven’t experienced.  I can’t really recommend her highly enough.” Bonnie (January 2020)

“I had planned to breastfeed my baby all along but like many women, my experience wasn’t straight forward. I had a c-section birth so my movement was hindered in the early weeks and I’d had lots of conflicting advice in hospital post-birth, about latching and positioning so found myself very stressed and worried about if my baby was getting enough milk. I contacted Mo through a recommendation from a friend and she came to see me the next day. She found an exhausted, anxious and tearful new parent, at her wits end. The first thing Mo did was ask me to talk her through my feeding experience from birth to that point and that was so, so helpful. Just being able to talk through my experience helped me see why I’d become so confused and anxious and therefore why feeding had become such a worry for me. Once I’d been able to express this I felt calmer and was able to listen and learn from Mo about latching positions and knowledge about how my baby feeds and what to look for (both in hunger cues and what my baby was doing as she was feeding). She helped me with a plan about how often to offer the breast and how often to pump and a decision process for whether to offer a top up of formula each feed cycle to ensure my baby was getting enough calories as breast feeding became established. Having a plan helped me immensely at a time when I felt too exhausted and anxious to be able to think straight.  Following Mo’s plan, I was able to feed my baby mainly from the breast, in about 6 weeks. Feeding her then became more pleasurable and I felt proud of myself for sticking with it. I would whole heartedly recommend Mo if you need support and confidence with breast feeding – she knows what she’s talking about and she listens intently to what you want and need in those delicate early days.” Nicola (October 2019)

“I cannot recommend or thank Mo enough. She is an absolute angel and without her I would not be breastfeeding my baby now!   Despite staying in hospital for three days extra for breastfeeding help, and daily visits from the midwives and being seen at the feeding clinic I was really struggling to breastfeed my son Zach.  He lost a lot of weight, was always hungry and crying and I was an emotional wreck.  Mo came within two days of me contacting her (while still on her holidays!).  She stayed with me for hours while I broke down and she was so kind and empathetic, she was like an angel!  She looked at the whole picture, listened to every little detail and gave advice tailored to me and my son. Going above and beyond she didn’t leave my house till I was feeling and feeding much better.  She was then available on the phone for any questions or issues I had or just to be a friendly ear;  I made the most of that I can tell you!  My son and I have overcome; 12% weight loss, tongue tie, dairy allergy, reflux and major anxiety: without Mo I know for sure we wouldn’t have made it as far as we have.  I can’t thank Mo enough and would recommend her to anyone who is struggling.”  Katharine (September 2019)

“I was struggling with breastfeeding. It was painful and I could not supply enough milk. I was having to mix feed using formula. I found this emotionally distressing and demoralizing.  Mo came to see me and helped me with a programme to improve my milk supply and establish a mixed feeding programme.  Mo provided advice, support and guidance. As a result I was able to improve my supply to such an extent that I can now fully breastfeed.  Mo’s knowledge and experience helped me understand my problem and she gave me the confidence and encouragement to keep going. Thanks Mo!” Katie (June 2019)

“I attended the NHS antenatal class and received much help from the midwives while in hospital, but I still didn’t have a clue what I was doing when it came to breastfeeding.  About two weeks into our breastfeeding journey I found myself with mastitis and reached out to Mo, who made herself available immediately and was at my house within twenty-four hours.  I needed help as soon as possible to relieve (and prevent) mastitis from returning.  Mo was thorough in working with myself and my newborn, from watching a feed, to suggesting products and positions to try, and even sending videos via email to watch.  She stayed in contact in the weeks following as I had follow up questions for her, which was extremely helpful to a hormonal (and sleep deprived) first time mum.  I’d highly recommend having Mo come for a visit as soon as possible, especially if you’re new to breastfeeding.  My only regret is not meeting with her sooner!  Thanks, Mo, for all your help.”  Rebecca (January 2019)

“Mo’s support was tremendously helpful in my breastfeeding journey with my second baby. Although I had breastfed my first child, my confidence was shaken when my son was born. Despite my prior experience, Mo’s expert advice was invaluable. She helped me get through a number of breastfeeding issues such as wrong positioning and acid reflux. There were definitely times when I was ready to throw in the towel but through her kind and gentle guidance I persevered and my boy has now solely been breastfed for six months — and I intend to keep going for another six at least.

Community midwives provide great information about the basics of breastfeeding but often lack the time to go through specific problems. After breastfeeding two children for over six months I can say for sure that every breastfeeding issue is an individual problem which is why Mo’s support was crucial to the success of my breastfeeding journey. She visited me at home, gave me practical tips as to how to latch on my baby and followed up through emails and telephone calls. Apart from that, through her kind and gentle manner, she provided emotional support, which is, in my opinion crucial to the success of breastfeeding. To anyone who is debating whether to give up and simply switch to formula, I would say that spending money on a lactation consultant such as Mo is money well-spent.”  Sonja (July 2018)

“Mo Brownlee is the only reason I managed to successfully breastfeed my son.  If you are at all unsure about whether to contact her then do not hesitate!  She is worth every penny!

I contacted Mo as I was experiencing difficulties in effectively breastfeeding my son.  I was battling with a range of difficulties: sore nipples, poor latch, engorgement, fast let down and slow weight gain.  I was desperate and Mo came to my rescue.

Mo visited us in our home and immediately reassured me. She listen to all my concerns and was sympathetic. She thoroughly assessed my son and very quickly put an action plan in place for me to follow. She spent hours with us and helped me through several feeding sessions from the beginning to the end. She made sure that I was happy with the plan we had put in place and emailed me lots of support materials and web links. I was really impressed with Mo’s extensive knowledge, experience, professionalism and, above all, her kind and understanding nature and approach. After our first session, Mo remained in contact through email and telephone and, for me, this was a critical part of the process. As a result of Mo’s support I was able to effectively breastfeed my son and enjoy the experience of breastfeeding. I would highly recommend Mo for breast feeding support.”  Emma (June 2018)

“I contacted Mo over a weekend when my baby was just a week old.  Mo responded straight away, which I really appreciated, and set up a meeting on the Monday.  I had been struggling with a sleepy, slightly jaundiced baby, who had to be woken for feeding.  Also my milk was slow to come in and I was exhausted with the feeding schedule the community midwife recommended.  I was prepared for the switch to formula, however, using Mo’s suggestions for a feeding schedule, laid back position and tips to help increase my milk production, I gained the confidence to continue breastfeeding.

Mo’s reassuring knowledge, non-judgemental advice and support have been invaluable to me and I would thoroughly recommend her to anyone having a problem, big or small, with breastfeeding.”   Aileen (May 2018)

“Mo provides a fantastic service.  As she came to my home, I was able to receive her help and advice in a relaxed and comfortable environment, rather than worrying about getting to an appointment on time with a young baby!  Mo responded to my online booking very quickly and I therefore received the guidance and encouragement I needed as quickly as possible.

Her visit left me with a lot more confidence when breastfeeding, as I was shown alternative feeding positions to help ease any discomfort I had been experiencing.  I would definitely recommend her service to other mums.”    Erin (March 2018)

“I was having problems getting my baby to latch properly, and was suffering with pain and almost 2 hour long feeds. After 3 weeks of trying to figure things out and a lot of googling, I reached out to Mo for help. I wish I’d got in touch with her from the start – she was able to quickly identify what the problem was and helped me to fix it.

From that day things just got better. Mo’s help has made all the difference and has meant that I’m able to exclusively breastfeed my baby. Feeds are now a nice bonding time with my baby rather than painful and anxiety inducing.”   Gemma (March 2018)

“Your support in teaching Sienna how to latch was very valuable to me and I feel that you truly took the time to listen to my concerns and help us keep breastfeeding manageable at a time when without adequate support I would probably have given it up.

I would like to thank you for your support and would be very happy to recommend you to anyone experiencing issues with feeding.”   Laeticia (February 2018)

“I found Mo’s advice and support really helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to others.” Rebecca (February 2018)

“Fantastic knowledge from a lovely lady. Having had ‘advice’ from community breastfeeding support workers, I didn’t find any specific or personal advice that improved my situation, so, getting advice from Mo relating specifically to my situation helped so much.” Nicola (February 2018)
